As a teenager, I had diary. I don’t think I used it all that much but I had friends who wrote down everything that happened every day. What a fun read that would be now. All my high school memory items were lost in a move many years ago including my scrapbook and diary.
Back in 2017, I ordered this gorgeous leather-bound journal. I loved that I could take out and add pages.
Where is it now? Did I ever use it? To answer the last question first, I never used it. It’s sitting in a drawer in my office. Will I ever use it? I’m not sure. My handwriting has gotten pretty bad in recent years. Maybe I will gift it to my daughter to use.
I think computers are a big reason I never used it. I can easily type entries on it – blogging or writing a document for personal use. Remember, my first personal computer use started in 1985 with a Zenith desktop, a 10MB removable drive, and Microsoft Works (the predecessor to Office).
When I started fiction writing, I used traditional throw-away lined notebooks. From there I moved to Rocketbooks since they had water erasable/rewritable pages (with the Pilot Frixion pens). Most of my book planning was notes that eventually got transcribed into computer notes. Those notebooks have all been put aside and I’ve moved back to paper alongside the computer. Having moved back to a desktop and a laptop, typing is my easiest method of storing things. Many of my author friends have stacked of notebooks they keep, an archive of their thoughts and book notations. For whatever reason, that never worked for me. Yeah, lots of text files on my computer instead.
This blog has become a journal of sorts since it’s where I share more personal stories, things that I really don’t want or need on my more public blog with my hubby. Some stories I write here may never get published, but so I guess this sort of my journal of thoughts.
Do you journal your days, your thoughts?
