3 D's - Declutter, Destash, Dispose

I have a bad habit. When I find something I like in clothing, I tend to buy multiples. I even get two of the same color because, you know, things wear out.

Cozy or not...take two

Yesterday we chatted about books being cozy. Nice, but doesn't give me a cozy feeling. What are some things that do make me feel cozy?

Share Your World - May 8 2023

I'm doing something a little different, a blog hop post. I used to do a lot of these but over the years have drifted away. One of my new A to Z friends posted her thoughts today and it got me to looking at the host. I think I will do these more often. Thank you to the post today on J Dub's Grin & Bear it blog.

Spring Allergies - Achoo!

Runny noses, itching eyes, post-nasal drip, ticklish throat, sneezing all day - it's that time of year.

Jewelry over the years....

Over the years, my jewelry box has changed as have my habits. As a teenager in the 60s, jewelry was kept to a minimum. Maybe some pearls for special occasions, but that was it.

Challenges and deadlines...

I've always loved challenges and I've always worked best under a deadline. In high school, I often waited to the last minute on big projects and still got an A. Makes me wonder what might have happened if I started earlier.

Who's old?

I've always said I couldn't possibly be a senior because I was never middle-aged. Middle-age was always at least ten years older than me. Well, that argument went out the window when I hit 70. There's something about being a septuagenarian that changes your perspective.

From Rings to Weddings

Yesterday I talked about our rings. Today, there was a comment in my blog post for the letter W in the April A to Z Blog Challenge and the wedding photo I included. I told the commenter there was a story behind our dress and I would have to share it in a post. So here goes...

Rings - a journey for eternity

A friend posted about the their wedding and rings for the letter V for vows in the April A to Z Blog Challenge. That brought to mind my journey with rings.

Clothing - Clothes?

Did you know clothing is the clothes people wear? Huh, confusing, isn't it. Then there is cloth like in facecloth or the cloth you buy to make clothing (or make clothes?). And we can't forget closet, which has no connection with clothes/clothing. It came from the French word 'closet' for small enclosure.

Moving on...Nope! Coffee is the next letter C word

Anyone who has known me for very long, knows I love coffee. I'll continue drinking, even after it's gotten cold (I do have a Mr. Coffee warmer on my desk). I'm not big on foo-foo drinks but I do love a good iced cappuccino. And I do enjoy McDonald's coffee - senior size with two cream and two sugars.

Counting…

I can be a compulsive counter.

Not just to go to sleep where I've been known to count to one hundred in Spanish, but when walking.

Cruising thru...

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I enjoy cruising (yes, still stuck on the letter C). My first cruise was in October 1989 with my late husband. It was only a three day cruise on the original Carnival Mardi Gras. Piedmont Airlines and USAir had just merged and the combined frequent flyer points paid for the cruise (wouldn't see that nowadays) and it became a late honeymoon for us.

Colors

Yes, I'm still on the letter C...

As a child, my mother loved to dress me in reds. So much, in fact, that as an adult I avoided red for many years. My favorite color was warm blues. I wore a LOT of blue clothes. One day I found a sale on a red suit. As a professional, I needed suits and when they were on sale, I would grab them.

This was a turning point, I fell in love with red again and that love has lasted over forty years. Blue? Not so much. I now find myself avoiding clothing in blues. I have also discovered I need warm reds, not cool reds. If you've ever dabbled with what season you are, you understand. I am pretty sure I am a warm autumn.

So what are my favorite colors right now? What colors am I using to build a capsule wardrobe in mostly wool? Teals, olive greens, burgundy/mauve, with a dash of neutrals (black, white, gray). Accessory colors are in warm red and coral colors. I even have Allbirds Wool Runner shoes in burgundy and teal!

Yes, I know there are blues in the chart that are good for me, but I'm just not there. Oh, and I do have a short-sleeve merino tee-shirt in a light lavender that isn't on the list, but I love it (and it's a Woolx tee and they are so awesome).

Have you ever had your seasons done (or tried to do them online)? What are your favorite clothing colors?

C or See Me

Have you ever felt invisible? I have. Not most times. In fact, I sometimes feel too visible. Most of my life I worried about how I looked, how I sounded, how I appeared to others. Now in my 70s, I worry less about what others think of me. I'm still me. I haven't changed. Well, except for looking older...
